History of Madhya Pradesh Madhya Pradesh is a state in central India, and it has a rich and diverse history. The region that is now Madhya Pradesh has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years. It was the center of many ancient civilizations, including the Indus Valley Civilization, the Mauryan Empire, the Gupta Empire, and the Mughal Empire. During the medieval period, the region saw the rise and fall of various dynasties. The Paramara dynasty ruled over parts of Madhya Pradesh from the 9th to the 14th century, followed by the Chandela dynasty, which is known for its magnificent temples at Khajuraho.
